Pharmacy Automated Packaging Management (Filter Application)

The Filter Application (abbr. FilterApp) is a middleware system that has been created to handle data flows between pharmacy systems and automated medication packaging machines. It is composed of two modules: the first one is a Windows service to scan the selected server locations where data supplied by pharmacy systems is stored in a flat file. The second one is a web-based application to manipulate and distribute the order to multiple local or remote packagers.

Users of the web application can browse doses grouped by file, patient, medication, and administration date. The doses selected by the user are processed and sent to the automated packager for processing. In addition, the FilterApp makes it possible to operate a Label Printer for medications that cannot be pacakged.

The FilterApp provides several additional mechanisms to handle dosage data, including, but not limited to, the creation of PPO/Contingency prescriptions, printing of blank labels, label reprinting, browsing of a history of processed doses, and barcode tracking for delivery management.
